An amazing kayaking route to reach the spectacular “Chinese Wall” of Huesca!
The kayaking route to Finestres may not have the same fame as the Congost de Mont-rebei kayaking route, but it makes up for it with one of those amazing landscapes that leaves no one indifferent. Moreover, it is a very uncrowded area, so with this adventure activity you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the place in peace and quiet.
The Finestres kayak tour will take you to what is known as the “Chinese Wall of Huesca“. In reality, it is a formation of vertical strata that nature sculpted in a jagged shape as if it were a real wall.
This 5 km long strait is one of the least travelled kayak routes in Catalonia. The Finestres area has a spectacular beauty that very few privileged people have been able to observe, as it is a place that is practically inaccessible by land. In addition, among the strata formations, we can contemplate some of the best places to see south of Mont-rebei: the Romanesque chapel of Sant Vicenç (12th century) and the rests of the mediaeval castle of Finestres.
In addition, kayaking in Finestres will give the lucky ones the opportunity to observe the griffon vulture and other birds of prey that can be found near the water.
The Congost de Fet kayak route starts at the Blancafort wharf. This is an activity to be done on your own, so once we give you the equipment, you will paddle north towards the Congost de Fet passing by the Torre de les Conclues, located on an impressive wall 400 metres above the water level. On the way back, you can continue the route to the west to go towards the Finestres wall, and whoever wishes to go up to the abandoned village of Finestres and visit the hermitage of Sant Vicenç. Don’t forget to follow the indications and advice that we will give you when you receive your equipment. You can rent our kayaks online. Depending on your needs, we have single or double kayaks, book and enjoy alone, as a couple or with your friends!
The starting point of the activity is at our Zenith Aventura offices in Ager (Carrer la Font, 9) at 9:30 am. From the offices, you will follow us with your vehicle for approximately 40 minutes on a tarmac road, and a last stretch of about 8 kilometres on a dirt road, to reach Blancafort, which will be our embarkation point.
The distance covered by kayak, along the Congost de Fet, to the “roundabout” is 8 kilometres round trip, and takes an estimated time of 2 hours approximately. Then, those who wish to go to the wall of Finestres will have another 4 kilometres round trip, and it takes about 1 hour, where they can walk for about 25 minutes to the abandoned village and visit the hermitage of San Vicenç. This would be the most complete route you can do. However, you can plan your itinerary according to your tastes and preferences, making the activity more or less demanding; advised by our staff.
Its technical difficulty is medium-low and the level of physical demand is medium.
In order to enjoy the Finestres kayak trip, we recommend that you come equipped with: shoes, comfortable clothes (swimming costume optional), a spare change of clothes, sunglasses, hat, sun protection, water (2 litres per person) and food (highly recommended).
Of course the kayak and the paddle! In addition, the basic instructions for the activity, a life jacket, watertight bag and a map of the route. And if necessary due to the weather, a bathing cover and an anorak.
